They are extremely intelligent, loyal, loveable dogs and are very people orientated, they love to interact and learn and are superb with children and other pets.
Bordoodles are ideally suited to an energetic family environment but will also make great companions for anyone looking for a truly fun and loving pet.
They are the best of both worlds and can love the city life, with dog parks and cafes, like their poodle side and then turn around and live it up in the country loving the wide-open spaces for zoomies and chilling by a fire like their border collie side.
Coat type
Grooming and care.
Bordoodles have a fleece coat. A fleece coat is characterized by a soft wavy or very loose curl appearance with a very soft and silky feel.
A fleece coat is a mix between the tight curls of a poodle and hair coat of a Border Collie.
A fleece coat is low to no shedding. As the coat may not fall out, they will require regular grooming. You can do this yourself or take your dog to a professional groomer. Our puppies will start their grooming training from day 1 so they are accustomed to brushing, baths and the noise and feel of the blow dryer.
We recommend a couple of different brushes, a slicker, pin brush and a metal comb (shown in the photo) to make sure you do the best coat brushing, right down to the skin at home to save your Bordoodle having to be shaved down at a groomer if they get matted.
Exercise Requirements
Bordoodles require a moderate amount of exercise, this can be either a walk, chasing a ball in the park or going for a swim (they love water). It is extremally important to stimulate their mind, with the use of snuffle mats, food puzzles and training tricks etc. Just as much, if not more than their bodies, as they are highly intelligent and thrive from learning and using their brains.
They do their best work in obedience trials and agility, they also excel at becoming therapy and assistance dogs.
Bordoodles need plenty of mental and physical stimulation for a healthy and happy life. If a Bordoodle’s exercise needs aren’t met, they could become destructive..
A general rule for physical activity is to aim for 45 mins per day. Bordoodles make great exercise partners and love the outdoors in general.
